Chapin Park Local Historic District Guidebook <br />Page 89 <br />Certificates of Appropriateness must be filed by the designated date prior to the meeting for <br />placement on the agenda (for application deadlines contact HPC Staff). The applicant or des- <br />ignated representative is expected to attend these meetings to answer any questions. A <br />Certificate of Appropriateness application without proper documentation will be tabled until <br />the owner provides the documentation. <br />5. The Standards and Maintenance Committee will meet as necessary at the request of the Staff <br />or Commission. The applicant will be invited to attend the meeting to present his/her plans. <br />The Committee will review the C of A and make a recommendation to the full Historic <br />Preservation Commission at the next regular Commission meeting. <br />6. Decisions regarding a Certificate of Appropriateness will be rendered at the next available <br />Historic Preservation Commission meeting. <br />Denials of Certificates of Appropriateness will be based on the inappropriateness of the proj- <br />ect or its possible violation of the Historic District’s Standards and Guidelines. The applicant <br />will be informed of specific reasons for denial by letter (with a copy forwarded to the Building <br />Dept.) explaining the action and suggestions for changes. The owner may re-submit his/her <br />application with the suggested changes to the Staff for review at the next meeting. After all <br />proper procedures are exhausted, the applicant does have the right of appeal to the proper <br />council which will make a final determination on the application.
