1Inmmittrr Crpnri <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> 1Ju tic Olnutuwu ttlounrtl of 117r ding of*milli Nrnh: <br /> The February 24, 1992 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairperson Roland Kelly at 5:03 p.m. in the council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Coleman, Puzzello, <br /> Washington, Kelly, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Ladewski, and Duda; Jon Hunt, <br /> Beth Leonard,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Kelly noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Substitute Bill <br /> No. 16-92 which would appropriate $42,706.00 from the EEOC for the purpose of <br /> defraying expenses of the South Bend Human Rights Commission. <br /> t. <br /> • Beth Leonard reviewed the Bill. She noted that it would defray the expenses for the South <br /> Bend Human Rights Commission for the year beginning October 1, 1991 through <br /> September 30, 1992. <br /> Following further discussion Council Member Slavinskas made a motion seconded by <br /> Council Member Duda that Substitute Bill No. 16-92 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council. The motion passed. <br /> Under unfinished business Council President Luecke noted that three appointments to the <br /> Urban Enterprise Association are needed. He recommended that Conrad Damian be <br /> reappointed. He also suggested that the other two members be contacted by Pam Myer as <br /> to whether they are interested in being reappointed. The other members include Peter <br /> Mullin and Louvenia Cain. Council President Luecke also noted that Cleo Washington is <br /> our representative to the Urban Enterprise Association. <br /> Council Member Ladewski suggested that past performance be considered. Council <br /> Member Slavinskas questioned the background requirements for the two citizen members <br /> and was advised that one should represent business, one must be a republican, and one <br /> must be a democrat.
