eommtttn lithutrt <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> d!o <br /> the Mu nn= Ulouncil of tilt (its of South Mind: <br /> The March 23, 1992 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order by <br /> its Chairperson Council Member Lee Slavinskas at 4:35 p.m. in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Luecke, Coleman, Puzzello, <br /> Washington, Kelly, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Duda and Ladewski; Ken Fedder, Richard <br /> Nussbaum, John Byorni, James Caldwell,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Slavinskas noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss Substitute <br /> Bill No. 18-92 which is a request to vacate an alley near Notre Dame Avenue. <br /> Mr. Fedder, the attorney for Mahmoud A. Hussein and "Club 23" gave the presentation. <br /> He noted that the Substitute Bill was to incorporate a new legal description. He stated that <br /> over the past several months there have been numerous problems related to the area such as <br /> parking, lights from headlights, littering, etc. He and the owner have met with the <br /> neighbors and with the District Council Person Ann Puzzello. The owner has invested <br /> approximately $30,000 in having the parking lot paved and it will be landscaped. He then <br /> referred to letters in support of the project (see copy attached). <br /> He stated that the total program should be to upgrade the neighborhood and that his clients <br /> overall investment is approximately $150,000. He also noted that the fence would be <br /> installed whether the vacation is granted or not. <br /> Council Member Puzzello noted that she had received a fax from a women in Los Angles <br /> who is an owner in the area who is against the proposed vacation. She also noted that Mrs. <br /> Robertson is against the proposed vacation as was Joe Doran. It was noted that the alley is <br /> used a lot to go to the neighborhood center. She also noted that unfavorable reports were <br /> received from the Fire Department and the Neighborhood Code Enforcement. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Puzzello made a motion, seconded by <br /> Council Member Coleman, that Substitute Bill No. 18-92 be recommended unfavorably to <br /> the Common Council. The motion passed with Council Member Washington abstaining. <br /> There being no further business to come before the the Committee the meeting was <br /> adjourned at 4:50 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member Lee Slavinskas, Chairperson <br /> Zoning and Vacation Committee <br /> att. <br />
