wommiltre Sport <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> dIu tie Comm Qlountil of ire CV of*nutty Brad: <br /> The January 14, 1991 meeting of the Human Resources and <br /> Economic Development Committee was called to order by its <br /> Chairperson, Council Member Steve Luecke at 4 : 18 p.m. in the <br /> Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Zakrzewske, <br /> Soderberg, Coleman, Puzzello, Niezgodski, Slavinskas, <br /> Luecke, and Duda; Don Porter, Jon Hunt, Cynthia Love-Bush, <br /> Ann Kolata, James Cook, John Byorni, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Council Member Luecke began the meeting by introducing <br /> Members of the Committee namely: Council Members Duda, <br /> Slavinskas, Niezgodski, and himself. <br /> Council Member Luecke noted that the purpose of the meeting <br /> was to discuss three Bills sent to Committee for review and <br /> recommendation. <br /> Cynthia Love-Bush, the Executive Director of the Human <br /> Rights Commission, then reviewed Bill No. 110-90 which would <br /> appropriate $51, 000. 00 from the U.S. Department of Housing <br /> and Urban Development for the purpose of defraying expenses <br /> of the South Bend Human Rights Commission for the year <br /> beginning September 22, 1990 and ending September 21, 1991. <br /> She noted that the monies include the Incentive Grant and <br /> the. money for case processing with HUD. $16,000. 00 would be <br /> used for case processing, with the remaining $35, 000. 00 used <br /> for incentive funding. <br /> Cynthia Love-Bush then reviewed Bill No. 112-90 which would <br /> transfer $3 , 400. 00 among accounts within the South Bend <br /> Human Rights Commission from the Equal Employment <br /> Opportunity Commission. She noted that this action is <br /> necessary due to the federal budget deficit. They do <br /> anticipate receiving the EEOC contract in the near future. <br /> Cynthia Love-Bush then reviewed Bill No. 111-90 which would <br /> appropriate revenue in the amount of $1, 180. 86 from the Fair <br /> Housing Conference held in April, 1990. She noted that the <br /> money was earned from the Fair Housing Conference and would <br /> be used to purchase training equipment. Such equipment would <br /> include video tapes for educational outreach. <br /> Council Member Luecke questioned the incentive funding of <br /> $35, 000. 00 with regard to the types of projects it would <br /> address. The Committee was informed that the monies would be <br /> used for billboards, public service announcements, Fair <br /> Housing Conferences, and workshops. <br />
