It was then used as a warehouse <br />for the H. J. Schrader Company. This firm was founded in South <br />Bend in 1939 and its owners opened a store at 315 West Jefferson <br />Street. The store carried sporting goods, electric appliances, <br />furniture and paints. Company officers included: Everett L. <br />Ridge, president; Franklin R. Kramer, vice-president; Cecil Walz, <br />secretary; and Harold C. Ullery as treasurer. Everett Ridge was <br />also owner of The Ridge Company, distributors of automobile <br />parts, mill supplies and appliances. <br />The Schrader Company remained in the building until 1980, <br />eventually utilizing the space for another retail furniture <br />store. The building is now (1991) the site for two businesses: <br />Environmental Technology Incorporated and K. and L. Machine <br />Manufacturing Company.
