Human Resources and Economic Development Committee
August 13, 1990
Page 2
Ann Kolata noted that the first retail space is the only one currently rented at the
present time. The legal description involved, however, encompasses the parking
garage. Council Member Slavinskas questioned the policy of providing free rent for
the first six (6) months for the petitioner Catering by Billie, Inc.
The Council Attorney voiced concerned with regard to the precedent that may be set
if the Council would go forward without separating out retail space number one (1)
from retail space number two (2). It was suggested that perhaps a drawing of the
facility and an amendment to the Resolution be incorporated.
Council Member Soderberg voiced similar concern. Council Member Puzzello
questioned the effect of competition and others who do not receive tax abatement.
Following further discussion and with the intent to have a proper amendment
presented to the Resolution this evening, Council Member Slavinskas made a
motion, seconded by Council Member Duda, that Resolution No. 90-42 be
recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Steve Luecke
Chairperson, Human Resources and Economic Development Committee
