fhnmutittrr Erpnrt <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> Ohl the Mom= &until of tip Q tti of Ovid!! ilrnh: <br /> The December 10, 1990 meeting of the Human Resources and <br /> Economic Development Committee was called to order by it's <br /> Chairperson, Council Member Steve Luecke at 4 :45 p.m. in the <br /> Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Luecke, <br /> Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Coleman, and <br /> Voorde; Ann Kolata, Thomas A. McCalley, Don Porter, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Luecke noted that the first item on the <br /> agenda was to review Resolution No. 90-67 which is a 3 year <br /> real property tax abatement request for Briarwood South Bend <br /> Partnership. <br /> Ann Kolata then reviewed the report from the Department of <br /> Economic Development (copy attached) . <br /> Mr. McCalley, a Partner,of Briarwood South Bend Partnership, <br /> noted that the proposed abatement is for the rehabilitation <br /> of the existing building located at 202 Western Avenue. One- <br /> half of the space will be leased by ADT Security Systems. He <br /> noted that the renovation would include a new roof, <br /> upgrading the electrical system, repaving the parking lot, <br /> and related exterior improvements. He noted that the <br /> building has been vacant for the past 7 years. <br /> It was noted that Section 6 of the Resolution would have to <br /> be amended to delete the 6 year reference and to incorporate <br /> a 3 year reference. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Voorde made a motion <br /> seconded by Council Member Slavinskas that amended <br /> Resolution No. 90-67 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion passed. <br /> Council Member Luecke noted that there were also 2 <br /> Confirmatory Resolutions on the agenda this evening, namely <br /> Resolution 90-64 which is for WPK, Inc. , formerly known as <br /> Meanwhile, and Resolution No. 90-66 for the Main Street Row <br /> development. <br /> Council Member Luecke also noted that he would be in favor <br /> of the renomination of the Commission Members Roman Piasecki <br /> and Sandy Combs to the Redevelopment Commission. <br />
