Ornmmtfl n amirt •
HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
?IIo tip Qiumnwn Counrtl of tip Mug of fitoutll rnh:
The February 12, 1990 meeting of the Human Resources and
Economic Development Committee was called to order by its
Chair Member Council Member Steve Luecke at 5:10 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Duda,
Niezgodski, Puzzello, Luecke, Voorde, Zakrzewski, Coleman,
and Slavinskas; Hedy Robinson, Isaah Jackson, Don Porter,
and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Luecke noted that Resolution No. 90-9
requesting a ten-year real property tax abatement by
Niles/Colfax Associates for the property commonly known at
431 East Colfax Avenue would be continued until the March
26, 1990 meeting. He noted that there was a timing problem
with regard to this request since the Council will be taking
anticipated final action on Bill No. 119-89 with regard to
establishing new tax abatement procedures.
Council Member Luecke then noted that Substitute Bill No.
119-89 addressing revised tax abatement procedures for the
City of South Bend received a favorable recommendation at
last Thursday's meeting of the Human Resources and Economic
Development Committee. He specifically highlighted some of
the major changes to the Bill. In particular he noted that
the committee had deleted from the final version the
provisions where a petitioner •requesting both personal and
real property would receive a reduced category of real
property tax abatement.
There being no further business to come before the
committee, the meeting was adjourned at 5: 15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Steve Luecke, Chair Person
Human Resources and Economic Development Committee
SL:srk
