Area Board of Zoning Appeals—December 5,2012
MR. FEDDER: Do I understand that of the entire State facility you're only going to take a portion of it?
MR. ELEGANTE: That's correct. I've applied for the exemption to apply to all of the addresses associated
with the theatre in order to provide us with some flexibility in the future but at this time we would just be
opening the brew pub in the south store front at 216 &218 S. Michigan.
MR. VELLEMAN: Would this be one of those businesses that First Source Bank wouldn't want around a
tattoo parlor possibly? She said that there would be other businesses that may come in that would not be the
greatest for downtown. Would this be one that she would be referring to?
MR. URBANSKI: If we looked at 41...
MR. VELLEMAN: If there are 41 other controlled uses downtown,we have a problem with the other one.
Never mind I'm just making a political statement, I'm sorry. I apologize if I offended anybody.
MR. FEDDER: The other question I have, is you make reference to the Four Horsemen. That's not going to
close is it?
MR. ELEGANTE: No sir. The Four Horsemen a competitor and collaborator with us.
MR. FEDDER: I know Drewerys closed but I assumed the Four Horsemen is going to...
MS. NAYDER: Are you just making the beer there or is also available for like purchase and can you drink it
there and can you just purchase it and take it home.
MR. ELEGANTE: A brew pub that we're proposing, we would brew on site, we distribute on site. Indiana
State laws is fairly favorable to what's known as a micro brew which is where we cover under 10,000 barrels
of alcohol of beer per year and we can self distribute. So potentially could come in and get a growler to go.
So it would take a 65 ounce container to go with them. You could come in and enjoy a beer there. And then
our hope is that we can also sell our beer to a venue attached to the State Theatre once we get that going.
IN FAVOR
There was no one present to speak in favor of this petition.
REMONSTRANCE
There was no one present to speak in remonstrance of this petition.
A motion for approval was made by Mr. Velleman and seconded by Mr. Hawley. The motion carried
unanimously.
34
