• $ <br /> Qtummt#tee itrport <br /> RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE <br /> Ohl the Common Qloumtt of the ettg of£4ontty Nem%: <br /> The January 15, 1990 meeting of the Residential <br /> Neighborhoods Committee was called to order by its Chair <br /> Person Council Member Loretta Duda at 4: 05 p.m. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Coleman, <br /> Voorde, Puzzello, Zakrzewski, Duda, and Luecke; Patricia <br /> DeClercq, John Oxian, Mr. J. Edward Talley, Mr. Paul <br /> Rohleder, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Duda noted that the purpose of the meeting <br /> was to discuss the Near Northwest Neighborhood concerns <br /> previously outlined at the Residential Neighborhoods <br /> Committee meeting of January 8th. Discussion then took <br /> place with regard to licensing of landlords and requiring <br /> tenants to upkeep their properties. <br /> After considerable discussion Council Member Coleman made a <br /> motion seconded by Council Member Voorde that the <br /> Residential Neighborhoods Committee have a working committee <br /> to study the issues with regard to landlord/tenant <br /> legislation. The motion passed. It was further recommended <br /> that the working committee be directly accountable to the <br /> Residential Neighborhoods Committee and work with <br /> organizations such as the Landlord Association, Historic <br /> Preservation Commission, various neighborhood associations, <br /> the Legal Department, and the Code Enforcement Department. <br /> The Committee then briefly reviewed information from <br /> Boulder, Colorado and Chicago, Illinois (copies attached) . <br /> Mrs. DeClercq noted that Mr. Leszyznski was unavailable to <br /> attend the meeting due to a previously scheduled meeting of <br /> his own. She noted, however, that he would be happy to work <br /> with the Residential Neighborhoods Committee on various <br /> public works projects. It was noted that currently the City <br /> has a moritorium in effect with regard to street lights. It <br /> was also noted that tree trimming is currently done by I & <br /> M, except for those located in tree lawns which are the <br /> responsibility of the property owner. It was also noted <br /> that the Park Department does trim trees which are a public <br /> safety hazard with regard to stop signs, street signs, etc. <br />
