QtQntl itttnn grpnrt <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE <br /> 010 the Count= Qlonnxtl of the Otttij of*natty Rend: <br /> The October 9, 1989 meeting of the Public Safety Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chair Person Council Member <br /> William Soderberg at 4:45 p.m. in the Council informal <br /> meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Puzzello, <br /> Niezgodski, Luecke, Soderberg, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, <br /> Coleman, Duda, Voorde; Jenny Pitts Manier, Richard Nussbaum, <br /> Chief Taylor, Rick Switalski, members of the news media, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Council Member Soderberg noted that the purpose of the <br /> meeting was to review Bill No. 82-89 which would approprate <br /> $25,000 from the EMS Capital Improvement Fund. <br /> Chief Taylor and Rick Switalski then reviewed the Bill. It <br /> was noted that $20, 000 would be needed to purchase 2 Physio <br /> Control life pack 10 cardiac heart monitors and $5, 000 was <br /> needed to replace the boiler at Fire Station No. 5 on <br /> Prairie Avenue. <br /> It was noted that the heart monitors are checked by Memorial <br /> Hospital on a regular basis. Prior to the appropriation <br /> there is a balance of $160, 611 in the Emergency Medical <br /> Services Capital Improvement Fund. <br /> Council Member Zakrzewski spoke in favor of the Bill and <br /> noted that the boiler in Fire Station No. 5 is within his <br /> district. <br /> Upon questioning it was noted that the current heart <br /> monitors would be later declared obsolete by the City and <br /> then would be sold with a possible projected return on each <br /> of $2 ,000. It was noted that the trade-in value was only <br /> $500 each. Council Member Niezgodski stated that all <br /> ambulance should have the upgraded cardiac heart monitor and <br /> he believes that this should be a goal of the City. <br /> Council Member Voorde questioned how the third ambulance was <br /> performing and also the newborn unit. It was suggested that <br /> a specific update at a later date and time be received on <br /> both of these items to the City Council. <br />
