Human ResNarces and Economic Development Committee 3-13-89 Page 2
Following further discussion Council Member Zakrzewski made
a motion seconded by Council Member Puzzello that Bill Nos.
15-89 and 16-89 be recommended favorably to Council. The
motion passed.
Council Member Luecke then called upon Sherry Shane to
discuss Resolution No. 89-31 which would approve a inter-
local governmental agreement between the City of South Bend
and the County of St. Joseph concerning American Moulding
Inc. Ms. Shane noted that the Resolution would allow the
City and County to go forward on this project. 25 jobs
would be created by the project. Jon Hunt noted that 50% of
the funding would be coming from the State to cover infra-
structure costs. In response to a question raised by
Council Member Puzzello, Jon Hunt noted that the County does
have their own Economic Development Commission and an
Attorney, however, it does not have a staff. He further
noted that the City intends to have the entire area
eventually within the City limits, however, believe that it
should remain within the County initially. He also noted
that the Industrial Foundations position is that the entire
area should also come within the City limits. It was noted
that the matching funds from the State of Indiana would be
matched by the following allocations: City Water $18, 010,
St. Joseph County $8, 000, Industrial Foundation $29, 619 for
a total of $55, 629. 00.
Following further discussion Council Member Slavinskas made
a motion seconded by Council Member Voorde that Resolution
No. 89-31 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee
the meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Steve Luecke, Chair Person
Human Resources and Economic Development Committee
SL:srk
