Community Data <br />Police Protection: South Bend Police Department. <br />Hospitals: There are three acute care hospitals in the South Bend area. Memorial Hospital <br />of South Bend has 526 beds; St. Joseph's Medical Center has 339 beds; Saint Joseph <br />Community Hospital has 117 beds. <br />Recreation: The City of South Bend offers many recreational facilities. The City has 35 <br />playgrounds, 71 public parks providing swimming pools, softball and baseball <br />diamonds, tennis courts and one 9-hole and three 18-hole golf courses. <br />Cultural: The City of South Bend is the home of a minor league baseball team affiliated <br />with the Arizona Diamondbacks with games played in the. Stanley Coveleski <br />Regional Baseball Stadium (a 5,000 seat facility). The St. Joseph River runs through <br />the City providing boating activities. The East Race Waterway is a 2,000 yard man- <br />made rafting and kayaking course which flows adjacent to the St. Joseph River. <br />Other attractions include the South Bend Symphony, Morris Performing Arts <br />Center, Potawatomi Zoo, College Football Hall of Fame, Studebaker National <br />Museum, Northern Indiana Historical Museum, Copshaholm Historic House <br />Museum, Morris Conservatory and a 225,000 square foot convention and exhibit <br />center.
