Slavinskas, and Niezgodski; Dale Balsbaugh, members
of the news media and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Coleman then called upon Dale Balsbaugh to
review Bill No. 1-89 which would appropriate $10, 300. 00 from
the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund for the purpose
of completion of the new sound system, purchase of new
microphones, purchase of a new cyclorama and purchase of new
doors for the loading area back stage at the Morris Civic -
Auditorium.
Mr. Balsbaugh noted that the funds in--this account are
generated by the $.40 per ticket surcharge. ' He noted that
there were basically four items to be addressed namely labor
costs, enhancing the sound system, the new cyclorama which
would create a background effect, and the new doors.
. Mr. Balsbaugh also detailed the upcoming events at the
Morris Civic Auditorium. The Council Attorney noted that
Council Member Voorde had contacted her and that he heard
Mr. Balsbaugh's presentation before the Century Center Board •
of Managers and was in favor of the appropriation.
Following further discussion Council Member Luecke made a
motion seconded by Council Member Slavinskas that Bill No.
1-89 be recommended favorably to Council.
The Council Attorney noted that Mr. Balsbaugh had contacted
her earlier today and advised her that an additional
$5, 000. 00 would be necessary to address an electrical cable
problem. Since the current bill could not be increased, it
was explained to the committee that a new bill requesting an
appropriation in that amount would be forthcoming. Mr.
Balsbaugh noted that the electrical cable is original
equipment from 1921.
There being no further business to come before the committee
the meeting was adjourned at 3 :50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Sean Coleman, Vice Chair Person
Personnel and Finance Committee
