South Bend Common Council <br /> Human Resources & Economic Development Committee <br /> Minutes - February 8, 1988 <br /> Committee present: Stephen Luecke, Lee Slavinskas. Loretta Duda. Sean Coleman <br /> Also attending: Don Niezgodski, Ann Puzzello, Bill Soderberg, Tom Zakrzewski, <br /> Mary Allen (Executive Director, Human Rights Commission) , Margaret Fosmoe <br /> (South Bend Tribune) <br /> The Chairman called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. Mary Allen presented <br /> Bills 3-88 and 4-88, which provide federal funding from HUD and the Equal <br /> Employment Opportunity Commission for the Human Rights Commission. She noted <br /> that these funds could not be used elsewhere and that the number of case being <br /> processed was increasing despite a staff shortage. <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Slavinskas, seconded by Mr. Coleman, both bills were sent <br /> to Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> The Chairman stated that he had not yet appointed citizen representatives to <br /> the committee and that he would welcome suggestions for the positions. He said <br /> that he would call a meeting to review tax abatement guidelines and procedures <br /> as soon as the State Legislature finished any actions on the matter. <br /> The meeting ad:iourned at 5:30 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted. <br /> Stephen Luecke.
