'
Persons in attendance included Councilmen and
Councilwomen: Serge, Braboy, Beck, Puzzello, Taylor,
Zakrazewski, Barcome, and Voorde; Elizabeth Leonard, Jim
Wensits, Betsy Harriman, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilwoman Braboy noted that the purpose of the
meeting was to review two bills on the agenda, namely bill
no. 128-87 and bill no. 132-87.
Beth Leonard of the Economic Development Department
then reviewed bill no. 128-87 which would transfer $50,000
among various accounts within the Department of Economic
Development. She noted that this bill would appropriate
monies for the 1987 deficit plus part of the 1988 deficit.
She noted that part of the money would be coming from the
Fredrickson Park Fund and various community development
monies and would be placed in the Redevelopment
Administration Accounts. She further noted that this would
not be a financial burden to the Park project..
Following discussion, Councilman Taylor made a motion
seconded by Councilman Serge to recommend bill no. 128-87
favorably to the Council. The motion passed.
The committee then reviewed bill no. 132-87 which would
amend Chapter 2 Article 6 of the Municipal Code addressing
tax abatement procedures. Councilwoman Puzzello, the
sponsor of the ordinance, noted that the overall purpose of
the ordinance is to incorporate within the tax abatement
procedures an informative section regarding day care service
and day care benefits. She noted that the proposed
ordinance would not mandate such services but would inquire
into a petitioner's facilities and benefits in these areas.
The Council members spoke favorably regarding the proposed
amendment.
Following further discussion Councilman Serge made a
motion, seconded by Councilman Taylor, that bill no. 132-87
be recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed.
No further business came before the committee. The
meeting was adjourned at 4pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Eugenia Braboy
Chairman
Human Resources and Economic
Development Committee .
•
•occ •occc ►uoLIIHINC co.
