OlDnttmmtn &port <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE • <br /> 4 <br /> Ma tilt Comm Council of ills aliig of*twill ink <br /> The October 12 , 1987 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman John Voorde, at <br /> 4 : 30 p .m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included : Councilmen : Taylor, Paszek, Voorde , <br /> Puzzello , Barcome , Serge, Braboy, and Zakrzewski ; James Husband, <br /> Isaiah Jackson, T. Brooks Brademas, James Wensits , Doug Carpenter, <br /> and Kathleen: .Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that the first item on the agenda was to <br /> review Bill No . 80-87 , which is a Zoning Ordinance for property <br /> located at 716 North Niles. He noted that there was a substitute <br /> bill on file with the City Clerk' s office. Councilman Serge made <br /> a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor, that the Committee review <br /> the substitute bill. The motion passed. <br /> The re-zoning would re-zone the area in question to A3 , to allow an <br /> eighty unit development , plus gate house. Mr. T. Brooks Brademas <br /> stated that the land in question is the old Morse Electric Company <br /> property. He showed pictures of the proposed suites with a gate <br /> house and pool area and a blue print of the proposed project. He <br /> noted that at the Area Plan meeting , that residents did raise con- <br /> cern whether properties along Corby Street would see the actual <br /> units. He noted that because of the terrain, that they would not . <br /> He also noted that he intends to keep all of the wooded area along <br /> the North and East perimeter as a natural boundary. <br /> Mr. Brademas noted that the units are intended for individuals who <br /> plan to have extended visits of one week or more. There would be <br /> ten buildings with eight units in each. Each would have a complete <br /> kitchen and there would be sixty, one bedroom units and twenty, two <br /> bedroom units. He also noted that there would be meeting rooms in <br /> the gate house which could facilitate up to two hundred (200) people. <br /> Mr. Doug Carpenter questioned where the parking would be for the <br /> people attending the meetings , and Mr. Brademas noted that it would <br /> be to the South of the project and it would require B . Z.A. approval. <br /> Councilman Braboy noted that the residents who were present for the <br /> hearing stated that it would be an asset to the neighborhood. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Taylor <br /> made a motion, seconded by Councilman Serge, that substitute Bill <br /> No. 80-87 be recommended favorably with the condition that the pet- <br /> itioner maintain the wooded area along the North and East boundaries <br /> as a natural screening barrier. The motion passed. <br /> The committee then reviewed Bill No. 75-87 , which is a Zoning Ordin- <br /> ance for property located at 1314-22 West Washington Street. Mr. <br /> James Husband, the petitioner for Hoosier Lawn and Garden, gave the <br /> presentation.
