O ummit#Pn irpurt <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br /> inn tie Common OIouurtl of tip ettg of Batt ilia: <br /> The April 13 , 1987 meeting of the Parks and Recreation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairman , Councilman James <br /> Barcome , at 5 : 00 p .m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included : Councilmen Serge, Braboy, <br /> Beck , Puzzello , Zakrzewski , Barcome , Paszek, and Voorde ; James <br /> Seitz, Bob Niezgodski , members of the news media , and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand . <br /> Councilman Barcome noted that the purpose of the meeting was <br /> to review Bill No . 22-87 which would appropriate $290,000.00 from <br /> the non-reverting Fredrickson Park Property Fund to Account 399 , <br /> Contractual Services . Mr . Seitz noted that the ordinance would <br /> allow the continued progress on the Fredrickson Park. A total of <br /> $290,000.00 would be available . $150, 000.00 has been received , <br /> and $140,000.00 would be received later . <br /> Mr . Seitz noted that a deadline of 1990 must be met for the <br /> completion of the park pursuant to the Fredrickson will <br /> Mr . Seitz also noted that a total of 14. 2 acres would be <br /> utilized in developing the park. Several Councilmen (including <br /> Councilman Barcome) questioned the need for a fence around the <br /> perimeter of the park varying viewpoints were voiced on this <br /> topic . It was also noted that approximately $70, 000-$80, 000 was <br /> projected from the sale of the Fredrickson home which was <br /> included in the total of $290, 000.00. <br /> Councilman Barcome voiced strong concern over the amount of <br /> money needed to maintain the park. Councilman Puzzello voiced <br /> concern over security of the park and also expressed support of a <br /> fence around its perimeter . Councilman Braboy noted that she had <br /> mixed feelings with regard to the park. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee , Councilman <br /> Serge made a motion , seconded by Councilman Beck, that Bill No. <br /> 22-87 go to Council favorably . The motion passed unanimously. <br /> There being no further business to come before the <br /> Committee , the meeting was adjourned at 5 : 10 p .m. <br /> Respectfully submitted , <br /> Councilman James Barcome , Chairman <br /> nett perm® aegla.
