Qtnntmtttn Smart <br /> tit Common Council of tlit CSttn of Omni $snit: Zoning and Vacation Committee <br /> The December 8, 1986 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was <br /> called to order by its chairman, John Voorde at 5:20 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen: Serge, Beck, Puzzello, <br /> Taylor, Zakrzewski, Barcome, and Paszek; Mr. Gaylen Allsop, members of the <br /> news media and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss <br /> Bill No. 111-86 which would rezone the property located at 2501 Mishawaka <br /> Avenue in the City of South Bend. Councilman Voorde noted that the Area <br /> Plan Commission gave a favorable recommendation to the proposed rezoning at <br /> its meeting of November 18, 1986. <br /> Mr. Gaylen Allsop noted that the present location is currently vacant <br /> and that it would be a retail center housing either a bookstore or a dress <br /> shop. He noted that the proposed use would not need tax abatement or bonds. <br /> He further noted that South Bend contractors would be used during the <br /> construction and twelve new jobs would be created. <br /> Councilman Beck, the District Councilman noted that she has not <br /> received any complaints with regard to the proposed rezoning. <br /> Following further discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion seconded <br /> by Councilman Puzzello that Bill No. 111-86 go to Council. favorably.
