.C ITY O F SO UTH BE D OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br />Committeemember Rachel Tomas Morgan asked if the number of people having retired after <br />October 1, 2021 , is nominal. <br />Mr. Parker responded that sixteen (16) people either retired or passed away, which are included in <br />the eight hundred ninety-five (895) receiving payment. <br />Councilmember Karen L. White asked about the process for identifying the two hundred eight <br />(208) non-bargaining employees receiving payment. <br />Mr. Parker responded that the Mayor's office worked with each department head as per the <br />Treasury 's criteria. The primary consideration was if the city required the employee to work in <br />person during COVID-19 . <br />Councilmember White asked about any pushback from employees not included in the two hundred <br />eight (208). <br />Mr. Parker responded that he had not received any pushback. <br />Councilmember Canneth Lee asked when the rollout would take place. <br />Mr. Parker responded that the intention is to pay employees on Friday, January 28, 2022 , if this <br />resolution is passed by Council tonight. <br />Clerk Dawn Jones, with offices on the fourth (4 th) Floor of the County-City Building, asked if the <br />employees who worked in the Clerk 's office are included and who the two (2) additional elected <br />officials are comprising the thirteen (13). <br />Mr. Parker responded that the two (2) elected officials are Tim Scott and Jake Teshka, who worked <br />during the eligibility period but are no longer elected officials. <br />Kacey Gergely, Chief of Staff at the Mayor's Office, with offices on the fourteenth (14th) floor of <br />the County-City Building, added that she was under the impression that the Clerk 's office could <br />work remotely during the eligibility period of March 2020 to May 2021 . <br />Clerk Dawn Jones responded that someone was always in the office on rotation. <br />Kacey Gergely responded that she would follow up with the Clerk's office to continue this <br />conversation. <br />Vice-Chair Wax made a motion to send Substitute Bill No. 01-22 to the Committee of the Whole <br />with a favorable recommendation.
