Miriptt##n Smart <br /> go tip canto= mountil d* Olt% of S *nth HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> COMMMITTEE <br /> The Human Resources and Economic Development Committee <br /> meeting of .September 22, 1986 was called to order by its Chairman <br /> Councilman Eugenia Braboy at 4 :45 p.m. in the .Council informal meeting <br /> room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen Barcome, Paszek, <br /> Puzzello; Ann Kolata, Jon Hunt, members of the news media, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, <br /> Councilman Braboy noted that the purpose of the meeting was <br /> to review two bills, namely Bill No. 96-86 and 99-86. <br /> Ann Kolata then reviewed Bill No. 96-86 which would <br /> appropriate $7,000 to the Center City Associates for a retail market <br /> survey. She noted that the money was a result of a grant that would <br /> be matched by the Center City Associates. She further indicated that <br /> the total project of $28,000 would be paid with no further funding from <br /> the City. <br /> The survey would update p,r-imarily in the retail area and <br /> the last one done was completed in' 1982. She indicated that there <br /> was a renewed interest in retail and that the survey would also be <br /> used for showing banks with regard to financing of such projects. . <br /> Following favorable discussion by the Committee, Councilman <br /> Barcome made a motion seconded by Councilman Puzzello that Bill No. <br /> 96-86 go to Council favorably, The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Bill No. 99-86 was then reviewed by Mrs. Kolata. The bill <br /> would appropriate $87,000 among various accounts within the division <br /> of Community Development. She then briefly reviewed various projects <br /> involved. It was indicated that the neighborhood cleanup of lots would <br /> be financed by $10,000 from 1985 ULO Funds. <br /> Following favorable discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a <br /> motion seconded by Councilman Barcome that Bill No. 99-86 go -to Council <br /> favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Councilman Braboy noted that the NAM Program was proceeding <br /> quite well and that a question of expansion into other areas was a <br /> possibility and a positive move. <br /> Mrs. Kolata then briefly reviewed Resolutions No. 86-52 and <br /> 86-53 which both dealt with the .Mastic expansion. She indicated that <br /> TIF monies would be used to pay back the Indiana Department of Commerce <br /> over a five year period. <br /> There being no further discussion to come before the Committee <br /> the meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> .,,.. ..... .,,e�o� rVK ISM IN6 Eugenia Braboy, Chairman <br />
