Pocious, Mayor Parent, Members of the
News Media, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. '
Councilman Voorde noted that the purpose of the meeting was to
discuss Bill No. 92-86 which would vacate certain alleys and right-of-ways
in the Fourth District.
Councilman Ann Puzzello noted that she had initiated the project
and had circulated petitions on its behalf. She noted that the petition
was on behalf of St. Joseph Medical Center, Inc. and would help eliminate
the problems of gravel running down the roadway during the rains.
Councilman Voorde noted that the Board of Public Works gave a
favorable recommendation to the proposed vacation at its meeting of August 26,
1986.
Following further discussion, Councilman Beck made a motion
seconded by Councilman Puzzello to recommend Bill No. 92-86 favorably to
Council. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Voorde then noted that K.C. Pocius was present to
inform the Council of certain problems regarding property owned by
Van Gates. Mr. Pocius presented a slide presentation to the Committee to
show where a fence was erected at 310 South Taylor.
The Committee was informed that the Engineering Department had
informed the Pastor of St. Patrick' s Church that a curb cut would be
permissible so long as a public safety problem was not involved.
Councilman Braboy noted that she had talked with John Leszczynski with
regard to the curb cut and fencing problems. Apparently Mr. Gates has been
informed that the fence is in violation of the Municipal Code.
Councilman Beck suggested that a condition of a grain strip be
considered. Mr. Pocius then circulated a Petition from neighbors and
parishioners containing 40-50 signatures who were requesting that the
set-back be considered of 10-15 feet, that there be proper screening at
the front and sides, that there be no barb-wire on top of the fence, and
that the entrance be at the rear rather than at the front. Mr. Pocious noted
that he would be meeting with Mr. Gates immediately after this meeting to
discuss the proposed changes.
Several Councilmen noted that it would be premature to take any
formal action at this point. Councilmen Barcome, Beck and Voorde suggested
that Mr. Pocius meet with Mr. Van Gates and report back during the informal
meeting of the Council at 6 : 30 with regard to progress.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the
*4440., POOLROOMS CO.
