It involved a billing procedure of 25.00. She then briefly
highlighted the concept of• the overall bill.
Chief Taylor noted that he believed a screen system could be put
in place which would address some of the more substantial problems with
regard to hotels and nursing homes. In response to Councilman Voorde, it was
noted that a master list of who actually has an alarm system in place is not
available.
•
•
Chief Hurley stated that he had meetings with Chief Nagy of the
County Police Department.
Councilman Voorde questioned whether the fees involved should go
into a special fund, and he was advised by the City Attorney that the State
Board of Accounts has recommended that special funds be used for limited
occasions.
Councilman Puzzello however suggested that perhaps fees generated
could be a separate Line Item in the annual budget.
The Council Attorney recommended that a 30 day grace period be
considered and that during this period of time a copy of the new ordinance
along with the letter briefly summarizing the ordinance be sent to all
persons found in violation during this grace period. In this way there would
be a public awareness along with the news media coverage of the new law.
Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by
Councilman Braboy that the bill be filed and receive a favorable recommendation
from the Committee including the 30 day grace period. The motion passed
unanimously.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4 :30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
•
Robert Taylor, Chairman
IR.[ .R...
