Page 2. <br /> Councilman Beck that Resolution 9-C go to Council favorably. The motion <br /> passed unanimously. <br /> The Council Attorney noted that Resolution 9-B which is a petition <br /> for real property tax abatement for Union Station located at 326 West <br /> South Street could be heard in Committee today however should be continued <br /> at the regular Council meeting until February 11th. She noted that at <br /> the present time this petition would not satisfy any of the three tax <br /> abatement criteria. However, if the Council passes the new tax abatement <br /> ordinance (Bill No 3-85) on January 28th and after two publications: _ <br /> of that ordinance, the Union Station petition would then qualify under <br /> the geographic criteria. Councilman Braboy then requested the report to <br /> be given by Mrs . Kolata. She noted that the entire building would be <br /> rehabilitated in two phases. Between 30-45 new jobs with an annual <br /> payroll of $540 - $810,000 would be created. (a copy of the report is <br /> attached) <br /> Mr. Kevin Smith, owner of the property, noted that he plans to <br /> use the facility for retail business. It would become the corporate <br /> headquarters, of Soft Chip Company. He noted that it is a beautiful shell, <br /> however will need all new plumbing, heating, electrical , roof, and <br /> extensive interior and exterior modifications . He plans to make it the <br /> focal point for the Studebaker Corridor. He then showed sketches of the <br /> proposed plan. He noted that he will bring the model of the facility at <br /> the time of public hearing on February 11th. <br /> Mr. Jeff Gibney noted that since the Union Station is a historic <br /> building that Southhold has become quite excited about the project. He <br /> believes that Mr. Smith will make the project a successful one. Following <br /> discussion by the Committee, Councilman Taylor made a motion seconded by <br /> Councilman Beck that the. Committee recommend to the Council that Resolution <br /> 9-B be continued for public hearing to February 11, 1985.
