The new unit
would be at the McKinley fire station.
Mr. Vance noted that the EMS account receives approximately $120-$130 ,
000 per year in income or an average of a;. little over$10, 000 per month for the
ambulance service.
The City is proposing a lease purchase agreement for a duration of
3-5 years or 7-8 years. It was noted that the City has never H gone : beyond the
3-5 year duration. .
The Chief noted that there are 5-6 comnanae.s which have stock units
available, and that they are looking at receiving the most favorable interest
rate by using a trade-in. An appropriation ordinance would not be needed until
late 1984 or early 1985.
Councilman Braboy noted that she is concerned about antiquated
equipment and did not want anything to endanger public safety.
Councilman yoorde requested that the Fire Chief update the 1980
replacement and rebuilding schedules for the Fire Department. The Fire Chief
said he would send copies to the entire Council. Mr. Vance noted that the City
could one or two ways by bidding the entire project, or bidding just the truck
and then bidding the lease purchase aspect separately.
Councilman Taylor noted that no official action could be taken by the
Committee since there was no quorum.
