• <br /> Qtummtiirr Ennui <br /> 4 <br /> on tilt Gammon atounrtl of tiring of bourn wino: PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br /> The April 24, 1984 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called <br /> to order by its Chairman, Councilman Thomas Zakrzewski at 4 : 20 p.m. in the <br /> Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> • Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Braboy, Beck, <br /> Puzzello, Taylor, Zakrzewski, Paszek, and Crone, John Leszczynski , Charles <br /> VanParis, Doug Carpenter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski introduced Mr. VanParis to the Committee as <br /> the new citizen member and noted who was on the Public Works Committee. <br /> City Engineer John Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 38-84 which <br /> would appropriate $170,000 from the Local Road and Street Fund for <br /> scarification and pavement improvements. It is anticipated that the area <br /> on Twyckenham between Ewing and Ridgedale, and the area on Angela between <br /> Michigan and Eddy would be addressed. The scarification would be contracted <br /> out to the highest and best bidder with all curb: and base being repaired where <br /> necessary. <br /> Councilmen Paszek and Serge noted several difficult areas on Rte. 20 <br /> and noted that any funds which would not be used automatically revert back to <br /> the LRSF Fund. Councilman Braboy questioned whether this was the most cost <br /> effect method and was informed that it was with it being noted that one piece <br /> of equipment alone costs over $250, 000 with high maintenance costs. Mr. <br /> Leszczynski noted that the Board of Works has not gone out for bid on the <br /> project and advised the Committee that labor and material bonds, a performance <br /> bond, and a three year maintenance bond would be part of the project. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Serge made <br /> a motion seconded by Councilman Beck that Bill No. 38-84 go to Council <br /> favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 40-84 which would appropriate <br /> $21, 000 from the LRSF Fund for engineering services to upgrade traffic signals <br /> at seven intersections throughout the City. He noted that Cole Associates , Inc. <br /> was selected to do the design work. He also noted that construction would be <br /> paid 100% through the Federal Aid Urban Funds. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by <br /> Councilman Beck that Bill No. 40-84 receive a favorable recommendation. The <br /> motion passed unanimously. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski -then reviewed Bill No. 42-84 which would <br /> appropriate $150,000 from the LRSF Fund for various concrete improvements <br /> throughout the City. He noted that this is the third year of making repairs <br /> to concrete streets. The 5th and 6th districts have the majority of such <br /> streets however, areas that would be addressed would include: McGregor, York, <br /> Summit, Ford and Elmer. <br /> Councilman Paszek noted that people along the Peashway were pleased <br /> with improvements and Councilman Crone also noted satisfaction with past work. <br /> rate /m,.. .
