Mr. Goodrich made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on <br /> March 19, 2012 as mailed. The motion was seconded by Ms. Hill and approved. <br /> VII. Approval of Maintenance Vouchers <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Mullins to approve maintenance vouchers for March 2012 <br /> totaling $1,091,172.40. <br /> It was seconded by Ms. Hill. There being no further discussion,the motion was passed. <br /> VIII. Business of Director St. Clair <br /> 1. Director St. Clair informed the Board that the Botanical Society memorandum of <br /> understanding isn't ready to be presented yet. Several small changes need to be made to <br /> the final language and he hoped the memorandum of understanding would be ready at the <br /> next meeting. <br /> 2. He distributed the meeting minutes of a meeting held with the Rotary Club,Notre Dame, <br /> and Wightman Petrie. It was about the project at Howard Park for the Rotary's 10011 <br /> anniversary. It listed potential upgrades in the park. <br /> 3. The annual Tree Give Away will take place this week end and City Forester,Brent <br /> Thompson,will be giving away 330 trees to celebrate the 15`1 consecutive year the City <br /> has been given the Tree City USA designation. <br /> 4. The three major projects that are ongoing are work at Coveleski,the Conservatory, and <br /> Voorde Park. <br /> 5. In partnership with the Community Foundation and Mr. Richard Pfeil, a splash pad at <br /> Potawatomi Park is planned. A $50,000 grant is being applied for from the Indiana <br /> Department of Tourism. He distributed information on the grant. <br /> 6. Also,we are working with the Center for History and the Historic Preservation <br /> Commission. We are digitizing the records from the City Cemetery. Scanners have been <br /> procured and volunteers will be recruited to scan the thousands of records. <br /> 7. Director St. Clair distributed copies of the activity reports the Mayor's office requests <br /> on a biweekly basis. <br /> IX. Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> 1. Ms. O'Connor reported that the recent Mom-Son Dance was held two weeks ago and was <br /> sold out with 381 participants. <br /> 2. The Leeper Tennis Center opens this Saturday. <br /> 3. Ball diamond reservations started April 2. <br /> 4. 140 teams have registered for softball leagues thus far. <br /> 5. The O'Brien Fitness Center had 6,201 visits to the fitness center and 1,548 participants in <br /> group fitness classes during March. <br /> 6. The Blues and Ribs Fest planning is ongoing at the new venue. <br /> X. Comments by the Interim Zoo Director <br /> 1. Ms. Arriaga announced that an amur leopard arrived from the Audubon Zoo as part of a <br /> breeding loan. <br /> - - 3 - - <br />
