Cuttunt tin Evart <br /> • <br /> We Up Miniuwn fount% of Up (dam of tomtit( Snith PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> The August 16, 1984 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> was called to order by its chairman, Councilman Ann Puzzello at 2:00 p.m. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen: Beck, Puzzello and Serge, <br /> Joe Black, Michael Vance, Dave Sypniewski, Tom Gargis, Services <br /> Division Clerk, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand and members of the news media. <br /> Councilman Puzzello noted that the purpose of the meeting was to <br /> discuss possible cuts in the Police Budget for 1985. <br /> Councilman Puzzello suggested cutting $22,000 from Line Item #120, and <br /> $11,000 from Line Item #1300, and two requests for $31,500 from Line Item <br /> #110.09. <br /> Captain Gargis noted that Line Item #130 Extra and Overtime is used for <br /> communications, vacation relief, sick day pay back, and civilian overtime. <br /> He noted that 40 people could retire today from the force and the <br /> Department likes to keep the recruits as high as possible. <br /> Mike Vance noted that the department is, based on a manning level and <br /> that when one retires his salary could be transferred to the recruit line <br /> item. <br /> Councilman Serge questioned Line Item x-'-255 "Other Material" , Line Item <br /> #357 "Ammunition", and Joe 'Black. questioned Line Item #360 "Buildings and <br /> Structural Repairs". It was noted that repairs are needed for the SOS facility <br /> on Lincolnway as well as at the Olive Street Station. <br /> Following further discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion, seconded <br /> by Councilman Beck to cut a total of $64,500 from the following Police <br /> Budget Line Items <br /> 110. 09 Recruits $31,500 <br /> 120 Salary/Wages , Temp. 22, 000 <br /> 130 Extra/Overtime 11,000 <br /> The motion passed unanimously. Councilman Beck made a motion, seconded by <br /> Councilman Serge that the meeting be adjourned.
