Oly,piettirt Rrpiiri <br /> • <br /> On flit Gammon &until of* 0[ity of$Audi lira: PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> • <br /> The February 13, 1984 meeting of the Personnel andF:inance <br /> Committee was called to order by its chairman, Councilman Ann Puzzello at <br /> 4 :20 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room, <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen Puzzello, Beck, Serge, <br /> Paszek, Voorde, Zakrzewski, and TBraboy; Joseph Bleich, Carol Sheetz , Sherrie <br /> Petz, Kathy 1T,Barhard, Lt. Larry Blume, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand and members <br /> of the news media. <br /> Chairman Puzzello began the meeting by introducing the two new <br /> citizen members, Joseph Bleich, and Carol Sheetz to the Committee. <br /> Councilman Puzzello then called upon Kathy :._ Ba_rnard to review <br /> Bill No. 8-84 which would appropriate $13, 000 of revenue sharing money for <br /> a truck for code enforcement. It was noted that the proposed purchase for a <br /> dump truck would cost $28 ,000 with Community Development paying $15, 000 and <br /> revenue sharing providing $13,000. The truck being replaced is seven years <br /> old with 70 ,000 miles on it and has been down 20% of the time for repairs. <br /> Sean Watt is putting together the specifications for the bidding procedure. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that it should be a diesel truck. <br /> • <br /> Following discussion by the Committee Councilman Beck made a <br /> motion seconded by Councilman Braboy that Bill No. 8-84 go to Council <br /> favorable. The -motion passed unanimously. <br /> Councilman Puzzello then called upon Lt. Larry Blume to explain <br /> Bill No. 14-84 and and 15-84. Bill No. 14-84 would appropriate $1,380. 00 <br /> from the Highway Safety Fund for various breath-testing equipment for the <br /> Police Department. Lt. Blume noted that the present breathalizer used is <br /> out-dated. The new machine would be placed at the County Jail with all <br /> tests being run at the jail. Additionally six portatLe breath testers would <br /> be placed in six accident patrol cars for. field testing of suspected drunk <br /> drivers. Bill No. 15-84 would appropriate $4-,782. 00 for various investigation <br /> equipment used by the Police Department. The proposed equipment would be used <br /> to investigate accidents and would help purchase six cameras, two tape recorders, <br /> two collapsible measuring wheels, and fifty safety cones. • <br /> Following discussion by the Committee, Councilman Serge made a <br /> motion seconded by Councilman Braboy that Bill Nos. 14-84 and 15-84 go to <br /> Council favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 7-84 which would establish <br /> the Highways Safety Fund. Ms. Petz noted that this fund would allow the City <br /> to separately account for two Indiana Department of Highways Safety Project <br /> Grants. Both Grants require matching funds in separate records for the <br /> disbursement of the funds is necessary. Following discussion by the Committee <br /> Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck that Bill No. 7-84 <br /> go to Council favorably.
