Resolution 9E which is set for public hearing this evening. This is
a tax abatement request for the property located at 227 South Main Street.
Councilman Braboy noted that the report from the Redevelopment Department
noted that the proposed project is not within the downtown urban renewal
area, that it does not meet the SIC criteria and that it does not create 100
new jobs. However it was noted that it is less than one block from the
downtown urban renewal area, that there has been no capital investment in this
building for an extended period of time, that 32 new jobs would be created
with a payroll of $480,000 and new investment into the property of between
$650-750, 000 .
Councilman Braboy expressed concern that no one from the Redevelopmen•
Department was present for the meeting, nor was anyone representing the
petitioner present. Following discussion by .the Committee and upon
recommendation by the Council Attorney, Councilman Taylor made a motion
seconded by Councilman Puzzello that Resolution 9E be continued to the
informal meeting set for 6 :15 p.m. this evening for further discussion.
The motion passed unanimously.
There being no further business the Committee was adjourned at
4: 20 p.m.
•
. Respectfully submitted,
•
Eugenia Braboy, Chairman
•
•
•... •.•.• ,U.tI•MIM• CO.
