(IInmmtflrr 31rpnrt <br /> (�0 tir Ohm= Qlountil of tli* M{tg of ftmd1i limb: PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> The October 24 , 1983 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> meeting was called to order by its Chairman Joseph Serge at 5 :20 p.m. in <br /> the Council informal meeting room. • <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, <br /> Zielinski, McGann, Beck, Voorde, Harris, and Crone; Sherrie Petz, Jim Wensits, <br /> John Leszczynski, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Serge noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss <br /> three bills sent to the Committee for review and recommendation. <br /> Bill No. 116-83 would appropriate $1,600, 000 from Revenue Sharing <br /> Funds for the 1983 police and fire pension costs. Councilman Voorde <br /> requested how the amount is determined. Mrs. Petz stated that $800,000 would <br /> be allocated for police retirement and $800,000 allocated for Fire Department <br /> retirement. Her office takes into consideration the number of individuals <br /> eligible to retire, number of years of service, the rate and "the number <br /> reasonably expected" to retire. Approximately 100 men are presently eligible. <br /> The City projects 9 anticipated retirement in the Fire Department and 8 in the <br /> Police Department. <br /> Following further discussion Councilman Zielinski made a motion <br /> and seconded by Councilman Harris that bill no 116-83 go to Council favorably. <br /> The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Bill No 117-?83 would appropriate $100,000 of Revenue Sharing Funds <br /> for operating costs of the Parking Garages. It was explained that an <br /> anticipated deficit balance of $303,000 is rejected with $203,000 of the <br /> deficit to be addressed in 1984. Following disucssion Councilman Zielinski <br /> made a motion seconded by Councilman Harris that bill no 117-83 go to <br /> Council favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Bill No 118-83 would appropriate $65,000 of Revenue- Sharing Funds <br /> for the repair of Island Park. John Leszczynski stated that this would stop <br /> further movement caused by weight and current erosion by the water. He stated <br /> that this work should be done this year. $35,000 was appropriated last year <br /> to assist in this overall project. Following further discussion Councilman Beck <br /> made a motion seconded by Councilman Harris that Bill NO 118-83 go to <br /> Council favorably.
