fInntnttttnp Erpnrt <br /> en tilt Qlnmmon Olounrtl of tIir OItty of ftoutli end: PUBLIC WORKS <br /> • <br /> The October 10, 1983 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called <br /> to order by its, chairman, Councilman Raymond Zielinski at 5:10 p.m. in the <br /> Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Zielinski, - <br /> Harris, Voorde, Crone; John Leszczynski, Jim Wensits, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Bill No. 111-83 and 112-83. <br /> Councilman Zielinski called upon the City Engineer to update the Committee. <br /> Mr. Zielinski stated that Bill No. 111-83 would appropriate $70,000 from <br /> the local Road and Street Fund for the Logan Street improvement project. <br /> This would be for the second phase of the three-phas project. Fifteen percent <br /> of the cost would be by South Bend, fifteen percent would be by Mishawaka, <br /> and seventy percent by the Federal government through the Federal Aid Urban <br /> Funds administered through MACOG. The street would be an "S" curve, would <br /> have signalization and storm sewers, and would be widened. Upon further <br /> discussion Councilman Harris made a motion seconded by Councilman Serge that <br /> the Bill go to Council favorably. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> • Bill 112-83 would appropriate $65, 000 from the LRSA Funds for various <br /> traffic signal improvements. It would involve a flow oriented system based <br /> on warrants. It would involve Ireland Road at Main Street, Michigan Street <br /> and St. Joseph Street. Following discussion by the Committee., Councilman <br /> Harris made . a .motion seconded by Councilman Serge that Bill No. 112-83 go to <br /> Council favorably.
