Oh&main Erpnri <br /> • <br /> en tilt Gammon Olounrii of tfit,(Q{ty of Onutti limo: HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> • <br /> The October 24 , 1933 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic <br /> Development Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Robert <br /> Taylor at 4 :00 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Harris, <br /> Crone, Voorde, Taylor, and Beck, Colleen Rosenfeld, Ann Kolata, Jon Hunt, <br /> Paul Falduto, Jim Wensits, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Taylor noted that the purpose of the meeting was to continue <br /> the discussion of the 1984 Community Development Program, . <br /> Colleen Rosenfeld, Director of Community Development, then highlighted <br /> the proposed statement of Community Development objectives and uses (copy. <br /> attached) . <br /> Approximately $42,000 is left in the unspecified local option. <br /> Councilman Serge inquired into the proposed northwest center project and <br /> was again informed that the participants have not provided the requested <br /> information. <br /> Councilman Voorde-'updated the Committee on Zoie Smith's request <br /> made at a Park Board meeting regarding a new senior citizen`s center. Mrs. <br /> Smith thought that there was federal program which provided 90% funding, <br /> however Jon Hunt stated that he is unaware of such funding and that the <br /> Howard Park Senior Citizens.', Center is presently meeting such needs. <br /> The Committee then reviewed the proposed statement dated October 20, <br /> 1983 which will be published in the South Bend Tribune on October 24th. The <br /> final statement must be prepared by November 9th with a resolution approving <br /> the final statement coming before the Council on November 14th. • <br /> Councilman Harris inquired into the request of La Casa deAmistad Center'; <br /> proposal for $21,400, for translation services and pamphlets. The deadline for <br /> comments is October 31st. <br /> Jon Hunt informed the Committee that the City Administration will• be <br /> requesting the Council to strike from the ;Agenda Resolution 9-B which would <br /> have authorized the City to submit an application for an urban development <br /> action grant. <br /> Councilman Crone had several questions regarding Resolution 9A which <br /> relates to the Center City Housing Project. This is an inducement resolution <br /> and is totally separate from the East Bank Project. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that T. Brooks Brademas has received certifica- <br /> tion of his development corporation and asked for an update on . the City's <br /> status.
