(dnmmtrfrt irpnrt <br /> can fir Munn n (llounril atilt OIttg of Lud17 limb: HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> COMMITTEE <br /> The October 10, 1983 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Develop-�. <br /> ment was called to order by its chairman, Councilman Robert Taylor at 4 :00 p.m. <br /> in the Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> .Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Harris, Crone, Beck, Taylor, <br /> Serge, Szymkowiak and Voorde, Colleen Rosenfeld, Jon' Hunt, Ann Kolata, Jim <br /> Wensits and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the 1984 Community Development <br /> Program. Councilman Taylor called upon Mrs. Rosenfeld to outline the details. <br /> • She indicated that the program year and the calendar year will concide <br /> for 1984 and will run from January 1, 1984 through December 31, 1984. She <br /> then outlined the following monies available : <br /> $3,400, 000 was the entitlement for 1983. <br /> $3,200, 000 is the entitledment projected for 1984. <br /> $ 500, 000 of reprograming money from 1983 for 1984. <br /> $ 100, 000 programmed income anticipated for 1984. <br /> $4 ,150, 000 total projected monies available for 1984 plus <br /> reprogramed monies. <br /> Overall approximately 4. 4 million dollars wasavailableLfor 1983. <br /> Mrs. Rosenfeld passed out two handouts, one which set forth the proposed <br /> 1984 CD Program listing the activity and amounts (copy attached) and the <br /> second handout listed the proposals received for 1984 CD.Funding by activity <br /> and amounts (copy attached) . She stated that proposals were received through <br /> September 2.1, 1983. CAC then reviewed each proposal (there are 17 members <br /> with 6 - 7 `showing up on a continuing basis) .The emphasis was on housing, <br /> economic development, multi-faceted public works ,programs, with nothing being <br /> programmed for Monroe-Sample for 1984. <br /> In response to Councilman_Taylor' s question regarding the major goals for <br /> next year, he was informed that housing was listed at 1 1/2 million dollars, <br /> code enforcement was proposed at $340, 000, public works were proposed at <br /> $575, 000, development proposed at $918, 000 and public services were proposed at <br /> $277,-800. The amounts earmarked for Code Enforcement included monies for <br /> cleanup and wages for personnel. Councilman Szymkowiak suggested several items <br /> and ideas on how the cleanup program could save taxpayers money. <br /> Councilman Serge questioned the Northwest Center project,. and was informed <br /> that the staff requested further information. from Mr. Ellis and Mr. Fultz <br /> regarding their $227, 800 request listed as No. 11 Public Services. To date <br /> no information has been received. <br /> A total of $5 ,900, 000 was requested for various projects.
