Trumann Erpnit HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> The June 27, 1983 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Development <br /> Committee was called to order at 6 :00 p.m. by its chairman Robert Taylor in <br /> the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen Beck, Harris, Voorde, <br /> Zielinski, McGann, Szymkowiak, Crone and Serge, Attorney John Ford, Attorney <br /> Ernest Szawark, Eugenia Schwartz , Jon Hunt, Richard Hill, Richard Doolittle, <br /> Ann Kolatta, members of the news media and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Taylor noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss <br /> two tax abatement resolutions sent to Committee for review and recommendation, <br /> and to discuss the proposed tax abatement ordinance. <br /> Resolution 9-A would grant real property tax abatement for the property <br /> located at 3707 W. Lathrop Street. Mr. Ford noted that the owners, <br /> Griffin Marine, Inc. would be located in Phase III of the Airport Industrial <br /> Park. The Redevelopment staff gave a favorable recommendation and found <br /> that it was within an economic revitalization area. Following further <br /> discussion Councilman.Beck made a motion seconded by Councilman Serge that <br /> Resolution 9-A be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> Resolution 9-B would grant real property tax abatement to the property <br /> located at 300 N. Michigan Street. Mr. Doolittle stated that this would <br /> be for the Control Data Business Center and would create 100 new jobs. The <br /> overall project would be $4.5 million dollars with $780, 000 being abated. <br /> Following further discussion and questioning.., Councilman Beck made a motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Serge that Resolution 9-B be recommended favorably to <br /> Council. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Council Attorney then passed out a revised copy of the Tax Abatement <br /> Ordinance and reviewed it with the Committee. Following disucssion, it was <br /> recommended that the ordinance be filed with the City Clerk so that first <br /> reading could take place on July 11, 1983.. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, . the meeting <br /> was adjourned at 6 :15 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Robert Taylor, Chairman <br /> .etc ccco oteako ►v.u.MUne co. <br />
