Mooradian I P#1urt
Ws tile Mammon Mounrfl of the Taty of Onuttl firm): HUMAN RESOURCES .AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
•
The April 25, 1983 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic
Development Committee meeting was called to order by its Chairman Councilman
Robert Taylor at 4 :40 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Councilman Szymkowiak, Voorde, Harris,
Beck, and Taylor; Paulette Katz, Anne Kolatta,' Gerald J: Hammes, Warren
McGill, Ernie Szarwar} , and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Resolution 9-B which is set
for public hearing at tonight' s Council meeting. It involves tax abatement
consideration for the property known as 1901 Western Avenue .
It was noted by the Council Attorney that the Redevelopment Commission
met on April 19, 1983 and found that the area in question qualifies as an
urban development area under I .C. 6-1. 1-12. They also noted that there would
be a public benefit by such developments and that the location was within
a tax abatement impact area. It was further noted that both the staff and
the Commission agreed in their favorable recommendations. The project without
tax abatement would total $441,510, with tax abatement $222 ,•950, with the
amount abated to be $218,545. The average annual cost of abatement would be
$21,855. In light of this location Resolution 9-A dealing with 244 South
Olive Street would be struck from the agenda.
Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Harris
made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck that Resolution 9-B be reported
favorably to Council. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
. meeting was adjourned at 5 : 00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
• Robert Taylor, Chairman
•
Iw[[ rw[[[ . weuehwe CO.
