Councilman Beck also <br /> voiced concern about losing it from the tax payers. Councilman Crone asked <br /> what attempts redevelopment has made since its purpose is to revitalize the <br /> downtown and retail businesses. <br /> The Council Attorney then reviewed the redrafted resolution 9B regarding <br /> Phases I through V of the Airport Industrial Park being designated as tax <br /> abatement areas. Jon Hunt voiced concern from the Commission' s standpoint <br /> regarding competitive advantages being lost for the Studebaker corrider and <br /> the Monre-Sample areas; and the definition of light. He noted that he is <br /> talking with people down-state regarding other possibilities. <br /> Pat McMann of Project Future voiced his support of the redrafted <br /> Resolution. He sees it as a tool for all redevelopment areas to attract <br /> industrial jobs. He noted that if "jobs are important that you should be in <br /> favor of it. " <br /> The president of the Airport Industrial Park, a non-for-profit <br /> organization stated that they were solely interested for the South Bend area. <br /> He noted that they have not had a sale in this area for over three years. <br /> Councilman Taylor stated that he thought the City should be as aggesive <br /> as possible in this area. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee the meeting was adjourned <br /> at 5 :15 p.m. <br /> Respectfully Submitted, <br /> Robert Taylor, Chairman <br />
