Vol. Action Center $ 6 ,000 High priority Low priority <br /> Councilman Beck commented on the Voluntary Action Center proposal and <br /> hoped that a project could be funded to help the unemployed. <br /> Councilman Taylor stated that he believed the Council had the same <br /> strong feelings for the need to fund STS and suggested that a status <br /> report be received from Transpo regarding their funding. <br /> Councilman Szymkowiak again voiced concern about the Western Avenue <br /> area and its need to have public works projects. He believed that even <br /> though this is a State highway that the City should work to assist <br /> businesses in that area. <br /> Mr. Hunt then informed the Committee that the South Bend <br /> Development Corp. passed a Resolution this morning authorizing it to <br /> proceed ahead on the certification process for SBA 503 programs. He <br /> noted that presently there are 21 members on the Board and that 25 is <br /> the minimum. The certification process is projected to take approximately <br /> three months. Councilman Taylor suggested that Mr. Hunt inform the <br /> entire Council on this matter through a written memorandum. Mr. Hunt <br /> stated that he would do so and would include disucssion of making the <br /> City of Mishawaka a part of the Development Corporation with separation of <br /> funding. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee it was agreed that <br /> the Committee would meet again on Monday, January 24th at 4 p.m. to <br /> continue the discussion of the proposed activity. Councilman Harris made <br /> a motion to adjourn seconded by Councilman Taylor. Meeting was adjourned <br /> at 5 :50 p.m. <br /> Robert Taylor, Chairman <br />
