Public Works Committee <br /> The August 20, 1980 meeting of the Public Works Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Serge at 8 :30 <br /> p.m. in the Council meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included the following: Councilmen <br /> Voorde, Crone, McGann, Szymkowiak, Beck, Dombrowski, and Serge; City <br /> Engineer Pat McMahon; Citizen-members Orvis Hart and Alex Deranek, <br /> Marchmont Kovas of the Tribune, and Council Attorney, Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Councilman Serge announced that he had been contacted by <br /> Attorney Jack Dunfee regarding the possibility of starting a new <br /> recycling program and shutting down the Gertrude Street operation. <br /> He stated that Mr. Dunfee would like to take members of the Public <br /> Works Committee to see the operation in Fort Wayne. Tuesday, August <br /> 26th was proposed as a possible date. <br /> Councilman Serge then informed the Committee that the overall <br /> purpose of the meeting was to review Bill No. 93-80 which was referred <br /> to the Committee at the last Council meeting. He explained that this <br /> Bill would appropriate $18 , 500 from the Local Road and Street Fund <br /> to pay for signalization work at the new fire station at Cleveland <br /> and Bendix Roads, Pat McMahon was then called upon to give further <br /> details. <br /> Councilman Serge also brought to the Committee ' s attention <br /> the fact that the City Administration had filed for first reading a <br /> bill to transfer $105, 000 of which $35, 000 would be used for scarifica- <br /> tion and resurfacing, and $70, 000 would be used for signalization work <br /> at McKinley and Manchester. <br /> Following a discussion on these items, and questions about <br /> widening Ironwood Road south of Ewing Avenue, the meeting was <br /> adjourned at 9: 00 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Joseph T.
