Qtnnimt uT Spurt PUBLIC SAUTY COMMITTEE <br /> aru tI'e (Comm tIIouuril of Up etty of fouutli rnd: <br /> The October 27, 1980 meeting of the Public Safety Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Robert Taylor at 5:50 p.m. <br /> in the Council Meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included the following: Councilman Crone, <br /> Taylor, Kopczynski, MCGann, Beck, Szymkowiak, Serge, Dombrowski , and <br /> Voorde, Hearing Officer Charles Leone; Katherine Barnard, Director of <br /> Substandard; arid Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> This meeting was a continuation of the October 20th committee <br /> meeting. Chairman Taylor explained that the purpose of the meeting was <br /> to review the amended version of Bill No. 124-80. He noted that each <br /> Councilman should have a copy of the revised Bill , which was passed <br /> out earlier. <br /> The Council Attorney and Kathy Barnard then briefly reviewed the <br /> amended version. They explained that they had met earlier and were <br /> able to reach agreement on all areas. They recommended that the revised <br /> Bill be substituted for the original Bill No. 124-80, filed in. the <br /> City Clerk' s Office. <br /> Councilman Kopczynski mentioned that he had reviewed the BOCA <br /> Property Maintenance Code and had questions in two areas, namely; <br /> the amount of discretion given to the inspectors by the Code, and the <br /> reports of the inspectors. <br /> Kathy Barnard addressed these issues, and stated that she could <br /> provide a copy of the 1st 6 month report on inspections, as well as <br /> furnish a breakdown of how many buildings were inspected, repaired, and <br /> demolished, along with cumulative totals in each of these areas. Council- <br /> man Kopczynski stressed the need for a proper check and balance system <br /> in this area. <br /> Councilman Dombrowski made a motion to accept the amended version <br /> of Bill No. 124-80 and to substitute it and report it favorably to <br /> the Council. Councilman McGann seconded the motion. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Dombrowski; made a motion to adjourn, seconded by <br /> Councilman McGann. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m. <br /> Re ctfully submitted, <br /> Robert G.
