Hickey <br /> Dear Joe: <br /> This letter is to summarize various conversations we have had in which I <br /> explained the city's present policy in regards to adding new street lights <br /> and my commitments in regards to city payment of electricity for lights <br /> which you are installing in the -Erskine Manor Estates. <br /> First, due to fiscal limitations, the city has for the past few years, <br /> installed street lights only for special public safety reasons. Deviations <br /> from this policy have been infrequent. Secondly, 'high pressure sodium lamps <br /> are being installed to save energy whenever a significant portion of a <br /> street, block, or development is being lit. <br /> Through me, the city has made a commitment to pick up the cost of electri- <br /> city to power the lamps in Erskine Manor Estates effective January 1, 1982. <br /> If paying for the electricity to power the lights between the time they are <br /> installed and January 1,1982 proves to be too great a financial burden for the <br /> developers, let me know and I will talk to the Council 's Public Works <br /> committee about the matter. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> . 1 <br /> • <br /> John E.
