Vance <br /> MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br /> County-City Building, 4th Floor <br /> South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br /> RE: ALLEY VACATIONS: ENTIRE N/S ALLEY, ALSO WEST 1/2 OF THE <br /> E/W ALLEY WITHIN THE BLOCK BOUNDED BY MONROE-MAIN-SOUTH <br /> AND LAFAYETTE STREETS <br /> Dear Members of the Council: <br /> In accordance with Municipal Code Section 18-53 . 8, a favorable <br /> recommendation is being submitted to the Common Council concerning <br /> the Vacation Petition filed by the City of South Bend, Division of <br /> Engineering, to vacate the following alleys: <br /> The entire north/south alley ALSO the west 1/2 (one-half) <br /> of the east/west alley within the city block bounded by: <br /> Monroe-Main-South and Lafayette Streets in Martins Add. to <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br /> For your information, a Public Hearing concerning the Vacation <br /> Petition as filed was held by the Board of Public Works on <br /> November 10 , 1986 . <br /> Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, City of South Bend, Division of <br /> Engineering, was present and spoke in favor of the proposed <br /> vacation. Mr. Gregory Bajer, 1211 Dodge Street, Mishawaka, <br /> Indiana, was also present on behalf of Ms. Jule Bell, 210 West <br /> Monroe, Elkhart, Indiana, an abutting property owner. Mr. Bajer <br /> advised that Ms. Bell owns property at the northeast corner of the <br /> north/south alley to be vacated and is concerned that closing the <br /> alley would cut-off access to the rear of a building at that <br />
