2G <br />The Board met in regular session at 10 a. m. Mr. Papezynski absent. <br />Petition filed for an electric light at the corner of Marion street and Marion Blvd. <br />Remonstrance filed against the proposed Brick Pavement on Birdsell street from <br />Washington street to Linden avenue. <br />Electric Light ordered in at the intersection of N. Main street and the 2nd alley <br />north of Navarre street. <br />Engineer filed Assessment Rolls and Final Estimates for the following improvements, <br />to -wit; -- <br />Pipe Sewer on St. Louis street from Madison street to the St. Joseph River, Pipe <br />Sewer on W. Tutt street from Prairie avenue to the end. of the Brick Sewer on Tutt street, <br />Brick Pavement on Colfax avenue from Sycamore street to the east end of the river bridge, <br />Grade,.Curb & Valk on Wiltwer avenue from Dayton street to alley .south of Calvert street, <br />Walks on Florence avenue from Wilber street to Johnson street, All under Improvement <br />resolutions Nos..2361, 273, 2421, 256 & 266 respectively. Also Water connections on <br />Portage aven'Oe from Forest avenue to I. I. & I. R. R. Viaduct. <br />Resolved, that notices as to the amount of assessments be published for six con- <br />secutive days in the South Bend Daily Times and the ,South Bend D aily Tribune, coiamencing <br />on the 24th day of August 1905, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount <br />of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 12th day of September, 1905, <br />at 7:15 P. M. <br />.Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted <br />and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of: this resolution shall <br />be published on the 24th day of August, 1905, in the South Bend Daily Times and the South <br />Bend Daily Tribune, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such <br />work at its office in the City Hall on the 12th day of September 1905, at 7:15 P. M. <br />Communication from Indiana Railway Company. <br />The Honorable board of Public Works, <br />South Bend,* Indiana* <br />r entlemen; In compliance with the request of I1r. Frank 11. Dunnahoo, Attorney for your Board, <br />I beg to submit the general terms upon which this Company would contract with a company <br />operating a line between Logansport and South Bend, to run its cars over the tracks and <br />use the terminal loops and station of the Indiana Railway Company; and instating these <br />terms I beg to say that they are .identical with the terms agrrved upon between the South <br />Bend and Southern Michigan Railway Company, a subsidiary company of the Indiana Railway <br />Company, and the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph Electric Railway Company of St. Joseph <br />Michigan, with agreement and concluded after a thorough study and investigation of the <br />conditions ogoverning such cases throughout the middle West. <br />In order to°place. this i#atter clearly before your Honorable Board i will quote <br />from the before mentioned contract, the paragraphs mainly applying to this case. <br />"---The St. Joseph Company, now being called upon so to do and being satisfied that <br />the said Railway Company(The South Bend Company ),will construct its said railway from <br />South.Bend, Indiana to St. Joseph, Michigan, agrees that it will construct .the above <br />described single and double railway trae �s with necessary overhead lines over the routes <br />aboved named, and that such construction will be modern and of standard quality for the <br />use of an Interurban Railway, which Company (The St. Joseph Company) will maintain <br />the same at its own expense, together with the overhead line, to be operated by the <br />trolly system. <br />
