Zoning and Annexation Committee <br /> Committee Report. <br /> The October 25, 2004 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member Ervin Kuspa at 3:55 p.m. in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Pfeifer, Kelly, Puzzello, Kirsits, <br /> Varner, Kuspa, White and Coleman; Mayor Stephen J. Luecke, City Clerk John Voorde, Rita <br /> Kopala, Building Commissioner Don Fozo, Terry Lang, Bernie Feenie, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand,Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Kuspa noted that the Zoning and Annexation Committee Members <br /> include Council Members Puzzello,Kelly, Coleman and himself. <br /> Council Member Kuspa called for a presentation on Bill No. 04-112 which would <br /> approve a petition of the South Bend Board of Zoning Appeals for the property located at 1601 <br /> West Sample Street. <br /> Bernie Feeney of Lang, Feeney & Associates, Inc., with offices at 715 South Michigan <br /> Street in downtown South Bend made the presentation. He noted that his partner Terry Lang <br /> was also present. Their client is St. Mary's Parish who has been located at 1601 West Sample <br /> Street since 1914. He provided a copy of a map showing the existing building and the planned <br /> parking lot across the 12'alley which is proposed(copy attached). If the petition is approved the <br /> congregation will be able to park cars in the parking lot instead of along the street. <br /> Building Commissioner Don Fozo stated that the Board of Zoning Appeals held a public <br /> hearing on September 16, 2004 and send the petition to the Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation. <br /> Council Member Kuspa opened the hearing to the public. No one spoke in favor or <br /> opposed to the bill. <br /> Council Member Coleman made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kelly that Bill <br /> No. 04-112 be recommended favorably to Council.
