Joint Meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> and the Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> The November 8, 2004 joint meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation <br /> Committee and the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by Public Works and <br /> Property Vacation Committee Chairperson, Dr. David Varner at 4:43 p.m. in the Council <br /> Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Puzzello,Dieter,Kelly,Pfeifer,Kuspa, <br /> White, Coleman, Kirsits and Varner; City Engineer Carl Littrell, City Attorney Charles Leone, <br /> Community &Economic Development Director Sharon Kendall, Rita Kopala, Jackie Rucker, a <br /> member of the news media and Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Dr. Varner noted that the members of the Public Works and Property Vacation <br /> Committee include Council Members Kirsits,Pfeifer,Coleman and himself. <br /> Dr: Varner stated that as he noted under miscellaneous business of the earlier Personnel <br /> and Finance Committee meeting, he and Council Member Dieter would like to have Bill No. <br /> 32-04 continued until November 22nd. He stated that he has received some letters and <br /> comments since the last joint committee meeting. Another joint committee meeting would be <br /> called for Thursday,November 18,2004 at 5:15 p.m. <br /> Jackie Rucker, Community Relations Director for the University of Notre Dame stated <br /> that she was asked to speak in opposition to the bill by Mr. Katris as it pertains to not-for-profit <br /> corporations. Ms. Rucker noted that many not-for-profits are working positively particularly in <br /> the northeast neighborhood area. Dr. Varner asked Ms. Rucker for a letter from Mr. Katris <br /> setting forth his comments,to which Ms. Rucker agreed to provide. <br /> Dr. Varner further furthe noted that the original version of Bill Na. 32-04 contained language <br /> guag e <br /> which addressed not-for-profits doing business. He stated that he would be amending the Bill to <br /> address those not-for-profits who are seeking funding only. <br /> Council Member Coleman then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kirsits <br /> that Bill No. 32-04 be continued until November 22,2004.
