® Confirmation (or confirmatory) Validity Test a second
test performed on a different aliquot of the original
urine specimen to further support a validity test result.
Confirmed DrugTests a confirmation test result
received by an MRO from a laboratory.
• Confirmatory Test
a) For alcohol testing, a confirmatory test is a second
test following a screening test with a result of 0.02
or greater, conducted 15-30 minutes later, that
provides quantitative data of alcohol concentration.
This test is conducted on an Evidential Breath
Testing Device (EBT).
b) For controlled substances testing, a confirmatory
test is a second analytical procedure on the same
specimen to identify the quantitation and
presence of a specific drug or metabolite. This
confirmatory test is independent of the initial test
and uses a different technique and chemical
principle from that of the screening test in order
to ensure reliability and accuracy. Gas
Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
is the only authorized confirmation method for
cocaine, marijuana, synthetic opiates, opioids,
amphetamines and phencyclidine.
Contractor Participant means an Employer who is
contributing member of BCRC.
Controlled Substance means marijuana (THC),
cocaine, synthetic opiates, opioids, oxycodones,
MDA -analogues, phencyclidine (PCP), amphetamines
(including methamphetamines), methaqualone,
barbiturates, benzodiazepine, propoxyphene, methadone,
6-acetymorphine and ecstasy.
0
