d o4 tmtttL govt <br /> : rks', Ittcrtatton, Cultural arto ttttrt ittttt ttt Coututitttt <br /> The February 9, 2004 meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts & Entertainment Committee <br /> was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 3:48 p.m. p.m. in the <br /> Council Informal Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Kelly, white, Dieter, Coleman, Kirsits, <br /> Puzzeiio, Varner, Pfeifer, and Kuspa; City Clerk John Voorde, Dennis J. Andres, Sarah Meddy, <br /> Terry Bland of the itIOUtt tizu4 -Erfbuut and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand,Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Coleman stated the Committee is composed of Council Members Kuspa, <br /> Puzzelio,Kelly and himself. <br /> Council iviember Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda is to review Substitute Biii No. <br /> 04 which would appropriate $60,150 from the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund <br /> (Fund No. 416). <br /> Dennis J. Andres, Executive Director of the Morris Performing Arts Center made the presentation. <br /> He began by introducing Sarah Meddy who is the new Assistant Executive Director. Mr. Andres <br /> noted that Fund No. 416 as of January 2004 had a balance of $200,000; of which $75,000 is <br /> invested in an interest bearing account. He noted that the Morris Performing Arts Center is an <br /> investment of$ 60 million in the community, and that the interest bearing account will be used for <br /> catastrophic events, if necessary. <br /> Mr. Andres then reviewed the proposed improvements which are highlighted in his letter of <br /> December 30, 2003 (copy attached). The appropriation would pay for: $650 for a time clock; <br /> $2,500 for life lines recommended by Safety &Risk Specialist Keegan Raucn;$6,500 for a theater <br /> intercom system; $7,000 for a Marley Floor; $7,500 for Bistro chairs; $11,000 for heat pumps; <br /> and $25,000 for portable concession stands. He noted that the Bistro should generate a $25,000 <br /> profit. The money for the heat pumps has already been spent in light of an emergency situation <br /> which occurred. <br /> In response to a question from Dr. Varner, Mr. Andres stated that three (3) heat pumps were <br /> replaced with two(2)which are much more efficient. <br /> There was no one from the public to speak in favor or against the substitute bill. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Kelly made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Kuspa, that Substitute Bill No. 2-04 be recommended favorably to Council.
