2004 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE <br /> INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE <br /> OF THE <br /> SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL <br /> Pursuant to § 2-10 of the South Bend Municipal Code, the following 2004 Annual <br /> Report of the Information and Technology Committee is filed which highlights activities <br /> of this calendar year. <br /> Duties: The Information and Technology Committee is charged with "overseeing the <br /> various activities of the City's information technologies so that all computer <br /> systems, websites, and related technologies are maintained and upgraded so as to <br /> remain competitive and up-to-date with current industry standards"pursuant to § 2- <br /> 10 (i) 6) of the South Bend Municipal Code (Emphasis added). <br /> Members: There are four (4) Council Members on this Committee, namely: Council <br /> Member Pfeifer who served as Vice-Chairperson, Council Member Dieter, Council <br /> Member Kelly, and myself as Chairperson. <br /> Meetings: This year the Information and Technology Committee held six (6) <br /> Committee meetings which were held on: <br /> February 23,2004 April 26, 2004 July 12,2004 <br /> April 12, 2004 June 28,2004 October 20, 2004 <br /> Highlighted Activities: One of the primary activities of the Information and <br /> Technology Committee was to review with the City Administration the staffing status; <br /> hardware upgrades; priority and target timeliness;the software upgrades; and the website <br /> redevelopment project. A multi-page handout discussing each of these items is on file in <br /> the Office of the City Clerk. <br /> The Committee received a power-point presentation from City Controller Frederick B. <br /> 011ett, III; the Director of Information Technologies Bob Allen; and PC Specialist Brent <br /> Cummins in the Fall which focused on recommendation received from Crowe Chizek and <br /> Company, LLC. Their recommendation addressed the proposed site map for the <br /> Common Council website and the material related to the overall upgrade to the City of <br /> South Bend's official website. Again, all of this information is available for public <br /> inspection in the Office of the City Clerk. <br /> The Information and Technology Committee is awaiting a further update on the <br /> Council's website and the City's website, which had been projected by the <br /> Administration to be available by the end of the 2004 calendar year. <br /> Like some of the other Standing Committees, an ongoing challenge of the Information <br /> and Technology Committee is to attract citizen members who have the interest and the <br /> time to serve on this Committee. <br />
