Personnel and Finance Committee: 51h District Council Member Dr. David Varner who is now the <br /> longest serving member on the City Council will head up this critical committee which oversees policies <br /> and procedures over city funding, reviews proposed appropriations, and most importantly meticulously <br /> reviews all city budget proposals and salary proposals. Joining Dr. Dave will be Karen L White who will <br /> serve as Vice-Chairperson and Council Members Val Schey and Henry Davis,Jr. <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee: 6th District Council Member Oliver J. Davis will take <br /> over as Chairperson, with Valerie Schey serving as Vice-Chairperson and Council Members Dr. David <br /> Varner and Gavin Ferlic continuing to serve on the Committee. <br /> Residential Neighborhood Committee: 15t District Council Member Tim Scott will continue to serve as <br /> Chairperson of this committee; with Council Member at Large Karen L.White being the Vice- <br /> Chairperson and Dr. Fred Ferlic and Oliver Davis being Committee Members. <br /> Utilities Committee: 3rd District Council Member Valerie Schey has been tapped to head the Utilities <br /> Committee. Joining her will be Oliver Davis, as Vice-Chairperson, and Council Members Henry Davis Jr. <br /> and Karen L.White serving on the committee. <br /> Zoning and Annexation Committee: 4th District Council Member Dr. Fred Ferlic will Chair this very <br /> active committee, with Henry Davis Jr.serving as Council Vice-President, and joining them will be <br /> Council Members Oliver J. Davis and Gavin Ferlic. <br /> The Council will need dedicated city residents to work with the Council Members, and the Council <br /> Committees. At next Mondays Common Council Meeting, we will formally announce that citizen <br /> volunteers may begin to apply for consideration to sit on a Council Committee. <br /> Applications may be found on the city's website, in the Office of the City Clerk or from any of the nine <br /> (9) Council Members. All applications should be filed no later than Thursday January 31 2013a They <br /> will then be referred to the Council Committee Chairpersons who will make the final selection. Last year <br /> a record number of residents applied, and we hope this interest to become involved will continue this <br /> year. <br /> 2013 will be another challenging year for our City. With the help, input and support of the residents of <br /> South Bend, 1013 can become a GREAT year which focuses our efforts on quality job creation, economic <br /> development, improved city services and keeping our budgets balanced. <br />
