<br />Version 08/25/2021 Page - 15 Public Works Quote <br />4. INTERIOR PIPE PENETRATION REPAIR <br /> <br />A. General Description <br /> <br />Work for this item includes, but is not limited to, the furnishing of all material, equipment and labor to <br />clean, grout and waterproof voids which surround existing pipe penetrations in the locations identified <br />in the plans and as specified herein. <br /> <br />B. Clay Masonry Units <br /> <br />Clay masonry units shall meet the requirements of the 2012 International Building Code section 2103. <br />New masonry units shall be “toothed-in” to existing wall construction. Color shall match that of adjacent <br />construction or as approved by the Owner. <br /> <br />C. Grouting <br /> <br />Minor voids at pipe penetrations shall be filled with a non-shrinking grout composed of 1 part portland <br />cement, 2 parts No. 23 fine aggregate, and an approved non-shrinking additive or a non-shrink, non- <br />metallic cementation grout in accordance with ASTM C 1107. Grout shall be colored to match adjacent <br />construction or as approved by the Owner/Engineer. <br /> <br />D. Materials <br /> <br />Other material specifications shall be in accordance with Section 1 – Masonry Tuck Pointing. <br /> <br />E. Interior Penetration Repair <br /> <br />Repair efforts generally include the removal of loose sediment and the grouting of any voids remaining <br />between the outside diameter of existing piping and masonry wall. After grouting, exterior-grade <br />waterproof caulk colored to match the existing mortar, shall be installed around the circumference of <br />the pipe. <br /> <br />F. Masonry Wall Reconstruction <br /> <br />Where the fire-suppression line penetrates the exterior masonry wall, north-west corner of the lower <br />level, requires approximately 16 square feet of masonry infill around the existing pipe. The proposed <br />masonry shall be “toothed-in” to the adjacent masonry and cut to fit the existing pipe. The remaining <br />void shall be grouted and caulked in accordance with the previous section. <br /> <br />G. Measurement and Payment <br /> <br />The Contractor shall be paid for on a per each basis for each pipe penetration repair completed and <br />accepted by the Owner/Engineer. The Contractor will be paid on a per square foot basis for masonry <br />wall construction completed and accepted by the Owner/Engineer. <br /> <br />H.
